Historic 4-Star Hotel & Resort in Lymington

Elmers Court is a wonderful, modern-day retreat with a fascinating history. Originally known as The Elms, it was taken over by the Whitaker family in 1874. James Whitaker was an MP and a JP, and it was thought that The Elms was used as a local courthouse, hence the eventual name-change to Elmers Court. When Hugh Whitaker inherited the estate in 1893, he rebuilt much of the property and many of its stand-out features - the Tudor-style gables, handsome carved panelling and huge, stone casement windows overlooking the Solent - originate from the early 1900s.

By the 1930’s, the house had passed to the local council and was lent to the War Office in the 1940s. Used as an Electronics and Communication Centre by the American and Canadian Forces to co-ordinate the D-Day Landings.

Today, the focus is firmly on relaxation so whether you’re looking for the luxurious touches of a hotel break, the home-from-home comfort of a self-catering stay or a little bit of both, there’s an option to suit everyone at Elmers Court.
